Rock On

Every once in a while I like to get crafty, so when I had some downtime this past weekend I took on a very small project I have been dreaming of for a while.  I have this thing for rocks, its true, I just love their uniqueness, the variation of smooth and rough, their unperfect yet oh so perfect shape.  I have been collecting this stash of rocks since we moved to San Francisco and putting them on my desk; I came up with an idea to incorporate them as useful objects in my workspace.

A couple months ago when we first got moved in, I created a special custom cork board to go behind Wren's computer monitors (they are big and not so pretty looking) to help create a sleeker look.  Since the cork board faces my desk I get to use it for all sorts of stuff like my custom calendar and other inspirational notes and photos.  So back to my rocks, I decided to turn the smaller rocks into thumbtacks for the cork board!

The project was really simple, grab a stash of small rocks, some thumb tacks, and some glue.  I used my glue gun but you could easily use another crafting glue.

All you have to do is put a dab of glue on the flat part of the tack and then place the rock on, hold it in place for a few seconds and then set down to fully dry.  It was so simple and they turned out  rockdonculous!

The tacks are so much fun and they really add an outdoor meets indoor vibe, I adore them!

I have a fun Valentine's Day treat in the works, anyone else working on something special for Valentine's Day?
