Monkeying Around

A while back we had a great dinner at The Bristol, we filled our bellies with a bunch of fun eats including some pull apart monkey bread with dill butter.  That was my first monkey bread experience but knew immediately it would not be my last.  So the other day when I saw an amazing sweet monkey bread on Smitten Kitchen, I turned on the oven and prepared to get my monkey on!  Yeasted breads are definitely not my favorite solely because I have very little patience when it comes to cooking or baking, but I knew this was going to be worth.  I followed the SK recipe almost exactly minus swapping in half whole wheat flour and omitting the cream cheese glaze.  While I was counting the minutes waiting for my dough to rise I decided to make two versions of the bread, one sweet and one savory.  The second set of monkey balls was dipped in a garlic and parsley butter, pause while I wipe the drool from my mouth, yum.  They both turned out a-maze-ing, not only are they fun to eat but they are so good!  Since I split my dough between the two types of bread mine were much smaller than the SK one, but much cuter in the end : )
I plan on doing much more monkeying around in the future!
